What Causes Aging?
A few years ago, it was reported on an Opra Winfrey show that the shortening of our telomeres was the direct cause of aging. This scientific discovery served to increase our awareness of the importance of addressing aging at the cellular level. We all want long telomeres. But, how to get them? With each replication, our cells become lesser duplicates of the originals, –a little “older”. They “forget” the exact image of the cell that they are replacing. The raw materials for a healthy cell may be lacking and also, toxins may have entered the mix. It’s these toxins that speed up the aging process and may even cause cancer in extreme cases.

What the body needs to head off toxins, before they can cause irreparable damage, are toxin scavengers. These can be found in dark, leafy vegetables, berries and fruit, etc. The question we all want to know is, which scavengers are the most effective?
PABA And DEAE
PABA (par amino benzoic acid) stimulates the production of folic acid and vitamins K and B1. DEAE (diethyl amino ethanol) metabolizes into choline and acetylcholine. Working in tandem, these two Super Heroes inhibit the body’s number one enemy, MAO.
Benefits of DEAE
DEAE enhances acetylcholine synthesis. It’s important to have adequate levels of ACh for memory function. DEAE is normally found in small amounts in our brains but shows remarkable improvements in brain functions when taken as a supplement. DEAE flushes accumulated lipofuscin from the body, the neurons of the brain, the skin and all other organs. It complements carnosine by inhibiting and reversing the Cross-Linking of proteins for extended lifespan. Scientific studies have shown that DEAE:
- Increases Acetylcholine Levels and RNA Levels
- Increases Attention Span
- Improves Learning and Memory
- Increases Alertness
- Increases Energy Levels
- Provides a Mild Tonic Effect
- Stimulates the Central Nervous System
- Relieves Anxiety
- Elevates Mood
- Alleviates Behavioral Problems and Hyperactivity associated with Attention Deficit Disorder
- Reduces Apathy in those with Depression
- Induces Sounder Sleep
- Causes Dreams to be More lucid
- Increases Willpower
- Decreases Severity of Hangovers
Benefits of PABA
PABA can be supplemented for such skin conditions as: vitiligo, pemphigus, dermatomyositis, morphea, lymphoblastoma cutis, Peronei’s disease, and scleroderma. PABA is also used to treat infertility in women, arthritis, “tired blood” (anemia), rheumatic fever, constipation, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and headaches. It is also used to darken gray hair, prevent hair loss, make skin look younger, and prevent sunburn. PABA:
- May Restore Hair Color
- Helps Utilize Pantothenic Acid
- Restores Skin and Hair Pigment
- Treats Vitiligo
- Prevents Accumulation of Fibrous Tissue
- Helps Form Red Blood Cells
- Is a Coenzyme to Metabolize Protein
- Maintains Intestinal Flora
What Is GH3?
Procaine Hydrochloride, a local anesthetic developed in Europe almost 100 years ago, is the active ingredient of GH3. Decades ago, doctors using procaine began to notice regenerative effects such as arthritis disappearing in some patients, hair re-growth or hair re-coloring along with an improvement in overall skin quality. The downside to early Procaine administration was the body’s reaction to Procaine. Procaine triggered the release of an enzyme called cholinesterase which breaks the procaine down and ejects it from the cells in about one hour.
Dr. Ana Aslan
Dr. Ana Aslan, who could be described as the Grandmother of anti-aging medicine, was a gerontologist and director of the Bucharest Institute of Geriatrics in Romania. She realized that if the Procaine could be stabilized it would no longer “attack” the body, therefore allowing the body to utilize the regenerative effects of the Procaine. After years of laboratory and clinical work Dr. Aslan discovered that by adding benzoic acid and potassium metabisulphate to the Procaine, the cells did not reject it and it stays in the body for at least 6 hours. The resulting compound is now known as GH3 or Gerovital. Procaine is the active ingredient of GH3 and this is composed from two naturally occurring B vitamins known as PABA (paramino benzoic acid) and DEAE (diethyl amino ethanol). PABA stimulates the production of folic acid and vitamins K and B1, while DEAE helps make choline and acetylcholine, both vital in nerve function. Because GH3 is a vitamin compound, it is not a drug.
Experiments Using Procaine Hydrochloride
When cancerous cells were treated with a solution of procaine, the cells’ multiplication desisted between 2 to 4 hours later. They became vacuolated and disintegrated 24-48 hours later. We call this apoptosis or “programmed cell death”. Normal MEF cells had been treated first with a procaine solution and next with a cancer inducing RNA type C Virus. Nothing happened immediately. Then, the MEF cell developed normally and died at the ninth generation, suggesting that procaine had prevented the MEF cells from becoming cancerous. This type of results had never been seen before. These findings were published in “Theoretical Aspects of Aging”, Edited by Morris Rockstein, and published in the Academic Press, Inc. New York, San Francisco, London in 1974.
Anti-aging Studies of GH3
There was a study published in the journal, Psychosomatics in 1974 that verified GH3’s clinical effectiveness as an anti-depressant. According to W.K. Zung of Duke University, GH3 was reported to be more effective than the standard anti-depressant, Imipramine. Cohen and Ditman reported that most patients receiving GH3 felt a greater sense of well-being and relaxation. They slept better at night and many obtained some relief from depression and the discomforts of chronic inflammation or degenerative disease. Findings were substantiated by researchers M.R. Hall and colleagues who noted in the journal, “Age and Aging” in 1983, based on a trial with 247 healthy elderly subjects taking GH3 over 2 years, that the results of the trial suggested GH3 is an active substance. Earlier studies on procaine claimed that it increased psychomotor activity, and muscle strength in the elderly and improved memory. By increasing noradrenalin which hibits MAO, GH3 improved memory and attention. The resulting release of brain serotonin improves sleep quality. MAOI induced increase in dopamine increases psychomotor activity and muscle strength.
How GH3 Works
Based on 286 published scientific studies and 500 laboratory reports, the empiric action (observable results) of GH3 are: Improves the balance of the body’s systems and their interaction with each other. For many health professionals, this is the definition of optimal health. Inhibits MAO (monoamine oxidase). This enzyme can displace other substances in the body so that individuals with high MAO levels can develop depression, pessimism, tiredness and lack motivation. When MAO is kept in check, the symptoms associated with aging are also kept in check. Gently dilates blood vessels, improving circulation and cleansing the blood. This brings relief to numerous conditions of aging caused by poor circulation, such as poor kidney function, angina, arthritis, senility, skin elasticity, lung capacity, varicose veins, etc.
Can GH3 Treat Alzheimer’s Disease?
In 1945, Dr. Aslan injected procaine into patients with painful arthritis to relieve their pain. Many of her patients reported less depression, improved memory, increased energy and a feeling of well-being. With results like these, she was encouraged to test procaine on thousands of patients and found that it had a eutrophic effect. GH3 Gerovital inhibits monoamine oxidase (MAO). MAO is an enzyme whose job it is to catalyze the breakdown of monoamines (dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine). These monoamines communicate between nerve cells. GH3 is a MAO inhibitor that blocks a breakdown of certain monoamine neurotransmitters, which action successfully treats depression.
MAO And Depression
Around the age of 40, the level of MAO increase directly relates to the aging process and depression phenomena. As MAO increases, depression seems to increase proportionately to it. Studies emphasize the relationship between DMAE and acetylcholine. DMAE breaks through the blood-brain barrier taking part in the metabolic process of the nerve cells where their protein and lipid fractions change into choline and acetylcholine.
Using the double-blind method on three groups of subjects, William Zung from Duke University, North Carolina, used GH3 for 28 days. (His subjects were patients of depression.) One group of patients aged 60 were submitted – before, during and after the treatment – to a battery of psychological tests which proved the GH3 Gerovital efficiency in the treatment of depression. One of the risk factors of Alzheimer’s Disease is the build-up of beta amyloid. Beta amyloid leads to a build-up of plaque in the brain which damages nerves and arteries. GH3 renders beta amyloid inactive by its inhibiting effect on MAO. This action protects neural tissue from symptoms of dementia.
Is GH3 A Drug?
No. GH3 is a vitaminic or vitamin-like compound, since it’s main active ingredient, Procaine Hydrochloride, is metabolized in the body, producing PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid) and DEAE (diethyl amino ethanol), which are vitaminic precursors to the formation of folic acid, choline, and acetyl-choline.
GH3 has been used by millions of people over the last 5 decades. There have been literally hundreds of clinical studies and laboratory reports on its positive effects. To a certain degree, as with many medicinal products, it isn’t fully understood just how GH3 helps so many different conditions. It is probably due to the fact it works at cellular level, therefore on all cells throughout the entire body, thus working generally. But what is clear, is that GH3 has no overdose level and it successfully helps with the following:
- Parkinson’s disease
- Skin problems
- High or low blood pressure
- Poor lung capacity
- Thinning and greying of hair
- Poor memory and eyesight
- Psychotic symptoms
- General ill health.
GH3 works in a number of ways on the body. One way is to improve the balance with which diverse systems in the body interact. Another is that GH3 dilates and cleanses blood vessels, which improves circulation to all parts of the body, including the vital parts of the brain. One of the chief age accelerators is poor circulation. Poor circulation can cause a number of conditions including: poor kidney function, senility, angina, arthritis, poor skin tone or elasticity, varicose veins and poor lung capacity. The positive effect of GH3 on depression is well documented. It works by normalizing the level of the enzyme Monoamine Oxidase, more commonly known as MAO. The increase of MAO levels is another aging effect because as it increases it reduces other important substances which relate to youth and vitality. Individuals with high MAO levels often suffer with depression or a general loss of interest in life. Therefore, keeping MAO levels in check is clearly an obvious anti-aging process.
How To Take GH3
It is best to take GH3 on an empty stomach and then wait at least one hour before eating or two hours after eating to be sure it is absorbed. This US GH3 is the exact laboratory duplication of Dr.Ana Aslan’s original formula, with nothing added or taken away from the active ingredients except these tablets are enteric coated not sugar coated. It is recommended that GH3 should be part of you daily anti-aging vitamin regime. Because GH3 does not stay in the body, once administration ceases, so do the positive effects of the product.
Is GH3 Gerovital Natural?
Yes, it is. PABA and DEAE are natural substances that occur naturally in the body’s cells. Procaine takes these two natural ingredients, combining them with “covalent” bonds, enabling them to enter the cells more easily. PABA or DEAE separately do not have the same effect, because they cannot effectively enter the cells. Dr. Aslan’s pioneering work on stabilizing Procaine Hydrochloride helped it stay in the cells longer in order to extend the regenerative effects.
Is GH3 Gerovital Safe?
GH3 has undergone 32 years of clinical investigation and scientific testing, making it, possibly, the most thoroughly tested product designed for human consumption. It has been used by tens of millions of people without any harmful side effects reported. Because it is essential vitamin-based, GH3 doesn’t interact or react with any other medications. No complications will arise from mixing it with other medications.
